Following a run to the semifinals of the Atlantic Coast Conference women’s basketball tournament, Syracuse (24-8, 11-5 ACC) jumped three spots to No. 15 in the Associated Press women’s college poll on Monday.

The Orange most-recently were blown out by No. 3 Notre Dame, 91-66, but rose in the rankings with wins over then-No. 15 Miami and unranked Virginia. The Orange followed their 10-point win over the Cavaliers with a strong second-half performance against the Hurricanes and avenged a regular-season loss to Miami, 92-85.

Star point guard Tiana Mangakahia scored 26 points and dished an ACC tournament single-game record 13 assists against UM, earning her a spot on the all-tournament team.

The Orange await their NCAA Tournament seed Monday, March 18 at the selection show, where the Orange find out if they will host the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament. Syracuse last appeared in the top-16 committee ranking on March 3 as a No. 4 tournament seed and the No. 15 overall seed.

“I mean, we’ve got a 10 RPI. And I think, what, a 3 strength of schedule,” Hillsman said after SU’s ACC tournament loss to Notre Dame. “If we don’t (get to host NCAA tournament games), I mean, they’re going to have to change the whole criteria.”
