Water pipe bursts in Park Point, soaks several rooms on first floor

A water pipe burst in the Park Point Syracuse apartment complex Tuesday evening, soaking several rooms on the first floor of the building.

The Syracuse Fire Department arrived at the luxury apartment community, located at 417 Comstock Ave., at about 6:45 p.m., said District Chief Todd Milton. Four fire department vehicles were at the scene.

Milton said the water was contained to about three rooms on the first floor, including an exercise facility and two residential rooms. The lobby of the building was also wet.

Although a significant amount of water soaked the carpets, Milton said he did not expect any long-term damage. Building staff had called a cleaning company to take care of the situation, he said.

The water caused no electrical damage or safety concerns, Milton said.

By 7 p.m., firefighters were removing hoses from the building. Trucks drove away by 7:10 p.m.
