Joey Bada$$ to headline March 5 Bandersnatch Music Series concert

Rapper Joey Bada$$ will headline the March 5 Bandersnatch Music Series concert hosted by University Union in the Schine Underground. The opener will be announced at a later date.

Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. and the show will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets go on sale Friday at noon at the Schine Box Office. The tickets are $5 for all Syracuse University and State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry students and staff with valid college or staff ID. Students and staff are limited to four tickets per person.

Joey Bada$$ is an 18-year-old rapper and producer from Brooklyn, N.Y. He released his second mixtape, “Rejex,” last September, following his critically acclaimed debut mixtape, “1999,” which was released last June. His debut album will be out this year.

He is also a member of the hip-hop collective Pro.Era, with whom he has released two mixtapes. He has also collaborated with Mac Miller and appeared on A$AP Rocky’s album, “Long.Live.ASAP.”

UU announced last Wednesday that pop-rock band Jukebox the Ghost will headline the second Bandersnatch concert of the semester on Tuesday, March 19. The concert’s opener has not yet been announced, and tickets are still on sale at the Schine Box Office.

When booking Bandersnatch concerts, UU tries to bring in different types of artists. Sarah Fleisher, UU director of public relations, said she thinks the group has achieved this with the two concerts.

Said Fleisher: “Jukebox the Ghost caters to the indie crowd and Joey Bada$$ has really been making waves online.”
